Yachting In Monaco

Without a doubt Monaco is one of the most exclusive and glamorous destinations in Europe and perhaps the world! More millionaires and probably billionaires live here then any where else in relation to the size of the country, which in this case is extremely small. Only the Vatican City can claim to be smaller as far as countries go but Monaco’s diminutive stature is not a handicap when it comes to offering some of the most amazing scenery on the French Riviera.

The dramatic coastline and near perfect climate combine to make Monaco one of the most desirable spots to either moor your personal yacht or charter one from the many companies specializing in this field. It is no surprise that some of best known celebrities can be seen around the waters of this coastline on their personal yachts or some beautiful charter that allows them to take in the breath taking clifftop real estate.

The Port

What better way to get a taste for this stunning location then to arrive via boat and moor at one of the several conveniently located ports that are either in Monaco itself, or close by on the Riviera. To be most centrally located it is probably best to head for Port Hercules where the marina has all the necessary facilities for your stay in Monaco. This spot will afford you easy access to all the main features of the principality, including a stunning view of the palace perched high above on the rock mass.

The Port

Once situated you can take a leisurely trip into Monaco where there is an endless array of things to do. If you are not currently one of the rich and famous you will have no trouble spotting some as many are frequent visitors to the area. A great many actually choose to live here as Monaco has the attractive distinction of being a tax haven, one of the reasons it has been able to sustain itself as an economy, with such residents bringing a great deal of wealth and spending power with them.

Monte Carlo Casino

Another, perhaps more well known and romantic feature of the Monaco life is the presence of the iconic Monte Carlo Casino. Originally established by the ruling Grimaldi family in the mid 1800s it was built to attract tourists to the region, with the hope that this would save the country from its rapid decline into bankruptcy. Fortunately for the country and the family this is exactly what happened! The passion for gambling and a desire to be seen in one’s finery at the Black Jack or Roulette Table was a winning combination and the beautiful casino became and remains a place to visit for its architecture and a place to be seen at.

Monte Carlo Casino

So if it is your pleasure to take a turn at the slots in one of the world’s most stunning settings head over from the yacht to the Monte Carlo Casino. Or if you are a bit hesitant to play in the big league, you can stay on your yacht and connect to the boats wifi, there you can spin some, before heading back to shore. This past time can be satisfied at any time of the year but if it is your desire to catch some of the other world famous events you will have to plan your yachting trip accordingly and be prepared to make your plans well in advance.

Events

Between the months of May and September Monaco is very busy hosting the world famous Monaco Grand Prix in May and the Monaco Yacht Show, the largest on the super yacht circuit, in September. At either of these events you can expect to see a huge increase in the number of visitors to the region and many of them will be arriving by yacht.

Events

The super exciting grand prix, famously held on the streets of Monaco, can best be enjoyed from a berth in the centrally located Port Hercules but be ready to pay a premium and expect to book well in advance as spots are limited especially if your yacht exceeds a certain size.  Similarly the yacht show held annually in September draws in excess of 30,000 people so naturally the demand for moorings at any of the centrally located marinas, or indeed any close by on the riviera, will be high. Again be prepared for this and book early to avoid disappointment.

One of the most exciting features of yachting in Monaco is that you can be moored out in the deep water and thus enjoy the opportunity to jet ski or fly board and then move further in land and go ashore to sample the delights of the fabulous shopping and the varied night life. Port Fontvielle is centrally located and provides all the modern amenities you will require and is also conveniently located near the heart of the city. One of the most enjoyable aspects of yachting is the ability to come along side water front establishments where you can wine and dine in a relaxed and luxurious atmosphere. Monaco certainly will not disappoint the traveller seeking to have the ultimate yachting experience!
