The Baja-Haha

The Baja-Haha is a two week long cruisers rally that goes from San Diego, California to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. All the way along the Baja coast line. It takes place every fall with the next one being October 29-November 11, 2017. This year will be the 24th annual race and as of last year roughly 3,000 boats and 10,000 participants have competed in the Baja-Haha race. The event is called a rally rather than a race because it does not have the usual strict guidelines of most races. The goal is for everyone to arrive safely had a great time along the way. Participants are allowed to make extra stops should they wish, as well as use their engine whenever they like, making this rally a more relaxed atmosphere, although still packed with fun and excitement.

Extreme Sailing Series

The Extreme Sailing Series was started in 2007 and it is the original Stadium Racing event that is specifically designed with the spectator in mind. It delivers high performance action close to the shore so that those watching can get a true feel for the action. The circuit goes around the world with stops in the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the Americas. It even has guest sailor spots that allow for a true VIP experience on board one of the boats.

The Volvo Ocean Race

The Volvo Ocean Race was established in 1973 and has since been the ultimate test for team sailing. The 2017 edition will take teams 45,00 nautical miles all around the world, covering four oceans, 6 continents and 12 host cities. It is often thought of as one of the longest and most challenging sporting events in the world, not just in sailing. It is without a doubt the most difficult sailing challenges there is and is one of the sport’s biggest events along with the America’s Cup and of course the Olympics. Many who participate have dedicated years if not decades to preparing for and participating in the race. The competition for this race is fierce and it is clearly not one to be missed.

While there are many more sailing events held around the world these are without a doubt some of the best of the sport. From the more relaxed atmosphere of the Baja-Haha, the closeness of the Extreme Sailing Series and the intensity of the Volvo Ocean Race there is truly an event for all time of spectators to enjoy. So, chose a destination and set sail!
